Pelican Elite Coolers Drain Plugs Updated

Good news everyone! Pelican Elite Coolers just keep getting better!

The sloped drain plug that is built into most hard-sided Pelican Elite Coolers (they’re not a part of the design for the 20QT Elite Cooler) has always been a unique selling point. The threaded assembly was designed so that a standard garden hose could be attached to it. The drain cap was tethered to the assembly so that you would never have to worry about losing it, which can’t be said for a lot of other coolers on the market. Unfortunately, this tether has for years been a strip of polypropylene, flexible enough to get the job done, but prone to wear and breakage over time.

Well no more! Over the summer Pelican has introduced a new and improved drain plug assembly for all Pelican Elite Coolers. The tether and drain cap have been redesigned entirely. The stiff plastic tether has been replaced with a coated steel wire tether, which offers greater flexibility and superior durability. The drain cap now has a free-spinning design that is larger and knobbed, making it easier to grasp while you turn it.

All new Pelican Elite Coolers manufactured after the summer of 2020 will feature this new drain plug assembly. Additionally, drain plug assemblies sent out through the warranty department and available for sale on our site have also transitioned fully to the new design.
